Interpersonal Psychotherapy

Interpersonal psychotherapy (IPT) is a time-sensitive approach to psychotherapy that has its basis in the notion that relationship problems play an important role in the understanding and treatment of mental health problems. Providers of IPT help clients identify problem areas for treatment, such as role transitions (e.g., becoming a parent), role disputes, and interpersonal deficits. Providers work with clients to identify and remedy themes in these problem areas to enhance quality of life and life satisfaction.
